Applying for Federal Loans With FAFSA®

We encourage all prospective students to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The application is free and is the starting point to determine your eligibility for many forms of educational funding. You can fill out the FAFSA® for free online. To apply, you’ll need:

Your Social Security number (SSN): This is used to verify your identity and link your tax information to the FAFSA form.
Federal Student Aid (FSA) ID: This is your username and password for accessing Federal Student Aid’s website and online services. Create it for free at StudentAid.gov.
Driver’s license (optional): If you don’t have a lot of credit history yet, your driver’s license can help verify your identity.
Federal tax information: This could include your W-2 or your tax returns. If possible, use the Data Retrieval Tool on the FAFSA website to automatically transfer your tax information from the IRS. It’s easy to use and speeds up the entire process.
Current asset information: Include the current balances of your savings and checking accounts, as well as the value of any investments, such as stocks, bonds, and real estate (excluding your primary residence).
Income information (if applicable): If you have any untaxed income, you’ll need to report it on the FAFSA. This might include child support or alimony payments.

Build your financial plan: Together, you’ll compare federal, state, and community options plus in-house monthly/bi-monthly payment plans to create a plan that fits your budget and schedule. Borrow only what you need. The team will explain repayment and timing.

Common Financial Aid Options at Turning Point Beauty College

Pell Grant: The Pell Grant is a need-based federal grant and does not require repayment. It is awarded based on your financial need.
Subsidized Loans: Subsidized loans are need-based, with the government covering the interest while you are in school, during the grace period, and during deferment. Eligibility is determined based on financial need.
Unsubsidized Loans: Unsubsidized loans are not need-based, and interest begins accruing from the time the loan is disbursed. While you have the option to defer interest payments until after graduation, choosing to pay interest while in school can save you money in the long run.
GI Bill® Educational Benefits: As a certified institution by the Department of Veterans Affairs, we proudly offer educational benefits under the GI Bill®. Veterans and their eligible family members can take advantage of this support.

What is the FAFSA® and why is it important?

The FAFSA® is the federal application used to determine eligibility for aid such as Pell Grants and Federal Direct Loans. Your FAFSA® results appear on a Student Aid Report (SAR), which Turning Point Beauty College uses to help assemble your aid package. Completing it early opens more options.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes. Turning Point Beauty College offers payment plans that can be combined with federal aid and other financial aid options to cover the remaining costs of your training. Ask the Financial Aid team for today’s terms and due-date options.

Do all programs qualify for federal financial aid?

Most of our training programs are eligible for federal financial aid, but short certificates typically do not qualify. Our admissions team can tell you if your program of choice qualifies for financial aid. They can also confirm which payment pathways apply to your chosen program and whether a school payment plan is available.

When should I apply for financial aid?

As soon as possible. Complete the FAFSA® for your academic year and update it annually while enrolled. After processing, Turning Point will review your SAR, request any needed documents, and outline your next steps.
